## About
This page describes the intellectual property and licensing policies applicable to MAT Services, its organizational branches and its products.
MAT Services develops and distributes software, tools, documentation, resources and other digital products.
These materials may be subject to different licenses depending on their origin, ownership, purpose and relationship with other MAT Services products.
This policy establishes a common framework for determining the applicable license and clarifies the permissions granted to users.
Individual product licenses and third-party licenses remain applicable within their respective scopes.
## General Policy
### All Rights Reserved (ARR)
Unless another license or explicit authorization applies, all rights to original materials published by MAT Services are reserved.
This applies, where MAT Services holds the necessary rights, to:
- The MAT Services name and visual identity.
- Logos, branding and original graphic materials.
- Website content and original publications.
- Administrative documents and internal materials.
- Original images, icons, fonts and other resources.
- Other materials not explicitly released under another license.
All Rights Reserved means that no general permission is granted to reproduce, redistribute, modify or commercially exploit these materials.
Any additional authorization must be explicitly granted by the relevant rights holder.
The ARR policy does not override licenses already granted for specific products or resources.
### License Inheritance
MAT Services uses a hierarchical licensing system.
Every product should have an explicitly identified license. If a product does not specify its own license, it inherits the license of its parent product, where applicable.
The following rules determine the applicable license:
1. An explicitly assigned product license takes precedence for that product and the materials it covers.
2. If no specific license is assigned, the product inherits its parent product's license.
3. If no applicable parent license exists, ARR applies by default.
4. Third-party materials remain subject to their original licenses, regardless of the license inherited by the product.
A product's license does not automatically grant rights over materials that are outside its scope or whose rights are held by another party.
Project repositories should identify their applicable license whenever possible.
### Exceptions and Special Permissions
Only the MAT Services administration is authorized to grant exceptions to this general licensing policy.
Such exceptions must be explicitly authorized and documented before the relevant use, reproduction, modification or distribution takes place.
An exception may specify:
- The material concerned.
- The authorized person or organization.
- The permitted uses.
- Any applicable restrictions.
- The duration or conditions of the authorization.
No exception should be assumed from informal discussions, public availability or the absence of an explicit restriction.
### Screenshots and Product Media
Users are generally permitted to capture, record, publish and share screenshots or recordings depicting MAT Services products.
This permission includes their use in:
- Tutorials and educational materials.
- Reviews, demonstrations and presentations.
- Technical discussions and support requests.
- Community posts, websites and social media publications.
Such material may be published for personal, educational or commercial purposes, provided that:
- The content is not altered in a misleading way.
- The publication does not falsely imply an official endorsement, partnership or affiliation with MAT Services.
- Applicable third-party rights, copyright notices and attribution requirements are respected.
- Personal or confidential information is not disclosed without appropriate authorization.
This permission applies only to elements for which MAT Services holds the necessary rights or has authority to grant such permission. It does not grant ownership of the depicted products, trademarks or third-party materials.
The creator of an original screenshot or recording retains any rights they may hold in their own contribution, subject to the rights applicable to the material depicted, including republication rights.
## Software Licenses
Software developed or distributed by MAT Services may use different licenses.
The license explicitly provided with each software product governs that product within its stated scope.
### MIT License
Some MAT Services software is distributed under the MIT License.
For example, the MAT API project is distributed under MIT.
The MIT License permits, subject to its conditions:
- Commercial and private use.
- Modification.
- Distribution.
- Sublicensing.
- Distribution of modified versions.
Redistributions must retain the original copyright notice and license text.
The MIT License does not automatically apply to the MAT Services name, trademarks, branding or unrelated materials.
### Apache License 2.0
Some MAT Services projects are distributed under the Apache License, Version 2.0.
This license permits use, modification and distribution under its terms.
Redistributions must comply with its requirements, including the preservation of applicable copyright, patent, attribution and license notices.
Where applicable, modified files must include prominent notices stating that changes were made.
The complete license is available at:
https://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0
### Other Licenses
Projects may use licenses other than MIT or Apache-2.0.
The license explicitly provided with the relevant project or resource applies.
Users are responsible for reviewing the applicable license before using, modifying or redistributing the material.
### Projects Without an Explicit License
A publicly accessible repository is not automatically open source.
If a project does not specify a license, the license inheritance rules described above apply.
If no applicable parent license exists, ARR applies by default.
The ability to view, clone or fork a public repository does not, by itself, grant general permission to reuse, modify or redistribute its contents.
## Documentation Licenses
Documentation, tutorials, guides and other written materials may have licensing terms different from those of their associated software.
MAT Services intends to permit the reuse of its original documentation under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0), unless another license is explicitly specified.
This license allows copying, redistribution and adaptation, including for commercial purposes, provided that its conditions are respected, particularly attribution and the indication of modifications.
The complete license is available at:
https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/
A software license does not automatically apply to its documentation, and a documentation license does not automatically apply to the associated software.
## Assets & Resources
Images, icons, logos, fonts, audio, videos, templates and other resources may have independent licensing conditions.
Original assets created by MAT Services are subject to ARR by default, unless another license or explicit authorization applies.
The MAT Services logo is a special exeption due to his actual unknown provenence. We actually considere it as ARR too but can make changes in some cases !
( If you are aware of a logo that have the exact same shape of our logo created before MAT Services, please, contact us imperatively at `mat.concact@gmail.com` and quote the source. Thank you. )
Third-party assets remain subject to their respective licenses.
The license of a resource must be respected independently of the license of the project in which it is included.
Users should not assume that all resources distributed alongside a software project are covered by that project's software license.
## Third-Party Licenses
MAT Services products may include, depend on or redistribute third-party software and resources.
Such materials remain subject to their respective licenses and terms.
MAT Services does not claim ownership of third-party materials unless the relevant rights have been explicitly transferred or granted.
Where required, applicable copyright notices, attribution information and license texts must be preserved and provided with the corresponding product or distribution.
If a third-party license imposes requirements that differ from this general policy, those requirements govern the third-party material concerned.
## Legal Notices
Nothing in this policy should be interpreted as granting rights beyond those held by MAT Services or the relevant rights holders.
Individual product licenses take precedence over this general policy for the materials they cover.
Previously granted licenses and permissions remain subject to their original terms. Changes to this policy do not automatically revoke rights already granted.
For questions regarding licensing, permissions, copyright or the use of MAT Services materials, please contact the MAT Services administration through the official communication channels.
